Prems Grama Bhojanam

I've been seeing posts on Prems Grama Bhojanam in couple of food groups in FB. Also the ads in Adyar times made me y not give a try? But its quiet hard to convince the better half to try some new place. Particularly when its all about healthy, ragi, blah blah. On a Sunday before deepavali, I clearly told him I'm not making dinner at home before we stepped out for some shopping. When he left the choice to me on choosing the restaurant for a light dinner, I took him here. A small place with neat and simple interiors. Very very limited menu. They have around 10-12 items for dinner. We started with Thumkur thatte idli, Kavuniarisi puttu (sweet) and akki roti. The puttu was light with rite amount of sweetness from the jaggery. Akki roti was accompanied by some dal aka kootu kinda stuff, but tasted good with capsicums. The thatte idli was decent enough (not a big fan of idlis) but the real star was the spicy onion chutney that came along with the idli. And after that, we demanded that chutney for all other dishes we had. Later we went on with Red rice dosa, pesarattu and devangiri benne dosa. Red rice dosa was surprisingly thin and crispy with less - zero trace of oil. Pesarattu and benne dosa (was like a clone of our own oothappam) were so so. The sambhar and mint chutney was gr8. Finished it off with Kavuniarisi idiyappam, served with fresh coconut milk and sukku coffeeSukku coffee tasted more like inji kashayam and was tad bit sweeter.









Food was simple, fresh and tasty. They claim that they dont use white rice, maida and vanaspathi and sugar. Easy on the stomach and the pocket too :) All these summed up to Rs.420 and above all better half was very happy with the food. Will definitely go back to try the other items and luch as well.
