Coco Jaunt 1728

Coco Jaunt 1728 is a new cafe-bakery-chocolatier in town. I was invited for the food bloggers meet by Team Coco Jaunt. Located in Anna Nagar, this place is quiet spacious. The entire cafe is set up based on travelling theme. The walls are adorned with cute little postal stamps to travel photographs. The interior is vibrant and beautifully done.

While talking with the three young entrepreneurs, Senthil, Vignesh and Rohini, who have joined hands on the interest of food and travelling, we learned that Coco Jaunt 1728, is the first brand to come out from the Passion Potato Pvt Ltd. They wanted to have one place that operates as bakery as well as cafe. They also have a dedicated space for variety of chocolates made in house.

Coming to the food, we were served two types of iced tea first. Green apple and raspberry flavour. While the green apple was decent, the later lacked a punch to it. Both definitely need more ice. Then came slices of garlic bread and fries with four different types of dips. The fries were taken to the next level just because of the dips. Peri peri, mexican, olive & herbs and mayonnaise were the dips served along with the fries. The first two tasted just out of the world.

We also had a chance to taste couple more starters. Croutons and French fries with chicken bolognese drizzled with cheese dip. Though the concept was good, I felt the chicken bolognese to be salty. Later learned that, it was due to the tartness from the tomatoes which cannot be controlled. Hmmm.

Then came the main course. We were served different types of sandwiches. The bread was panini and comes as plain, multi grain and herbed ones. The breads are well done. Nicely toasted/grilled on the outside, soft and spongy it is definitely superior to the normal sandwich breads. I tasted the chicken panini with pesto sauce. It was yummylicious. The meat was so juicy, bursting with flavours and the corriander pesto complimented the filing very well. I also tasted one more with paneer filling. The paneer was damn soft but the filling was dominated by the mustard sauce. The sandwiches are served with a portion of fries and fresh salad. The salad dressed with olive & vinaigrette (I suppose) tasted fresh and tangy. The portions are decent and will be more than enough for one person.

For desserts, we were served couple of drinks and a platter that had brownie, chocolate truffle cake, German forest cake, marshmallows and oats cookie.
The star of the night for me was shared by the nutty caramel drink and the German forest cake. The nutty caramel drink lived up to its name. Being a big caramel lover, I enjoyed every sip. The other drink, brownie shake was good too, but I'll take the other side :) And a special mention to the German forest cake. Chocolate sponge sandwiched with fresh/raw coconut shredding and toasted walnuts, it was so so so good. A unique flavour, which I've never tasted so far, just blew me away.

The other pastries and chocolates in the display were equally inviting. Have to try them out during the next visit. Yes !! I'll be visiting them again for the sandwiches, caramel drink and German forest cake atleast :P Also, the owners have ideas of expanding and bringing more stuffs like varieties of cheesecakes, tarts, baked yoghurts more breads and other things in course of time.

Since the food was on house, cannot comment on the pricing and the service. Overall the food, ambiance and the experience was good. Wishing the trio all the very best.
