Kuttanad Restaurant - Kerala Food at its best !!!

Almost a decade back, when I was new to Chennai, as a spinster fed up with PG food, I used to visit this place now and then for their lovely appam and kadalai curry. In between I think they closed for renovation or something. In time's span, I totally forgot about this place. Thanks to a fellow foodie, his post reminded me how good their food used to be. Since then, waiting for an opportunity to try this place again. After a brisk walk, hubby was in mood for burittos from the newly opened place, whereas I wanted to have some spicy South Indian food. Suddenly this idea of ordering from Kuttanad flashed. And without thinking further, got down to business. I ordered a chicken kothi pori, a karimeen pollichadhu, 2 porathas (parottas), chicken kothu parotta and egg curry. Since I live close by, food arrived in 30 minutes. Food was fresh and piping hot, neatly packed. The chicken kothi pori was okay in taste. My friend cooks a dish called Chicken podimas. This kothi pori came close to that taste. Some more pepper/chillies would've elevated the dish to next level. Since my doctor has asked me to take fish regularly (yeah I'm an obedient patient you know :P), I ordered the karimeen pollichadhu. Priced at 450 bucks, this was utterly delicious. Hot n spicy, this was cooked perfectly. As a toddler in eating sea food, I really found it difficult to finish it off, as eating the fish off the bones was one hell of a task for me.







The chicken kothu parotta was very flavourful and good with generous amount of chicken pieces. Portions were also huge. I had the parotta after 30minutes of the food being delivered to me. Still it was soft and flaky and didn't put a struggle to eat it :) I'm a big fan of their egg curry. Boiled eggs in tangy and spicy gravy with the aroma of coconut oil is a bliss. And it goes well with parottas, appams and even puttu.





I like the appam & kadala curry here. But its been ages since I had kadala curry here. A very good place for some yummy kerela dishes at affordable prices. The total bill was 800 odd bucks out of which the karimeen itself swallowed 450 bucks.
