Orange Wok

Once in a while our gang plans lunch/dinner. This time post the rain havoc we decided to meet up for dinner. After sorting out many places, we settled with Orange Wok as it received strong recommendation from senior members :P

Orange wok is located on the busy 100ft road of Velachery, this place is easy to spot. No issues with parking too. The place is small and can seat about 30 people. Interiors are bright and colourful. We took the table near the open kitchen. We ordered lots of starters out of which few made several repeats. To start off the crab meat soup was yumm. I just had couple of spoonful and it tasted perfect in all ways. Others too enjoyed it every bit. We ordered an array of starters including chicken lollipop, Chicken taipei, garlic and pepper beef, prawns delight in birds nest and honey glazed fish. Out of all the garlic and pepper beef was amazing. So soft and tender meat with strong peppery taste it was dish of the day. We ordered it again couple of times. Chicken lollipop was also very good with soft meat and spicy marination. While the first round of fish was very good, the repeat order was salty. Prawns were a disappointment. It was kind of semi gravy with loads of soy sauce which spoiled the dish. Also there were too much of capsicum in the dish.

We were almost full and wanted to keep our main course simple. So ordered for a Nasi goreng, thai red curry with prawns, a portion of steamed rice to go with the red curry and a mee goreng along with couple of drinks. Nasi goreng was very good, spicy with loads of prawns and a fried egg and chicken satay. The rice was spicy and the fried egg complimented well to the rice. The only thing I didn't like was that there were too much of capsicum in the rice. Thai red curry was a tad bit salty but while having with rice it was good. The mee goreng was meh!! It didn't have flavour or anything good to talk about. The drink, Mama mia was pretty good with strong strawberry crush and mild pineapple flavour.

Total bill was around 3400 bucks. Considering we ordered quiet a lot of starters, the pricing seems to be moderate for the quantity and quality. Service was quick and friendly. We gave our feedbacks to one of the owners which was taken positively. Altogether a good place for decent thai/chinese food.
